• Not a Separate Breed — Just a Rare Coat Type: Fluffy Frenchies are purebred French Bulldogs with a rare recessive gene that creates a long, soft coat. Both parents must carry the gene for a fluffy puppy to appear.
• The Long Hair Gene Has Always Existed: The fluffy coat isn’t a new mutation. It has existed quietly in the breed for generations. It was historically discouraged in show lines, which is why it remained rare.
• Same Body, Different Look: Under the coat, Fluffy Frenchies are identical to standard French Bulldogs in structure and temperament. The coat simply gives them a softer, more teddy-bear-like appearance.

Breed History

• Playful but Low-Energy: They enjoy short bursts of play and silly antics but tire quickly. Most are content lounging on the couch for much of the day.
• Stubborn Yet Charming: Like all French Bulldogs, they can be strong-willed. Consistent, positive training helps channel their personality without frustration.

Care

• Exercise: Light daily activity such as short walks and indoor play is sufficient; avoid overheating due to their brachycephalic structure.
• Training: Short, positive, reward-based sessions work best due to their stubborn streak.
• Grooming: Regular brushing 2–3 times per week prevents tangles and keeps the coat soft, especially around the ears and neck.
